The biggest friends from the TV screen

The exhibition presents the legendary TV puppets of the children’s programmes of the Estonian Television – several generations of Estonian children have grown up listening to their songs and watching their adventures.

The first children’s programme aired 70 years ago and since 1957 the Estonian Television has nearly consistently produced new children’s shows. The puppets were made in cooperation with the Estonian Puppet Theatre and the same puppets could be encountered both on the TV screen and on theatre stages. The puppets whose career had taken off on television tended to keep performing from programme to programme and the biggest stars could even perform in more than one programme series.

The exhibition is Tartu Toy Museum’s gift for the 70th anniversary of the Estonian Television. The exposition was compiled in cooperation with the museum of the Estonian Public Broadcasting and the items belong to the Estonian Public Boradcasting.
